The impressive work of filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is based on 16th century poem Padmavaat by A Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi. The movie is set in medieval Rajasthan. It is a tale of a ruthless man Sultan Alauddin Khilji’s (Ranveer Singh) obsessive love for the woman, Queen of Chittor, the wife of Maharawal Ratan Singh(ShahidKapoor), Rani Padmavati ( Deepika Padukone) & her preference for death over dishonor.

Ranveer Singh the barbaric, power drunk, shrewd, villain who is a portrait of menace & most compelling characters in the movie. With unkempt waist length hair, kohl in eyes, facial scars, sex- appeal & swag of badboy Ranveer singh looked amazing as Alauddin Khilji. His flamboyance made it hard to look at anyone else when he is on the screen.
